About proctored exams:

If you are on-campus, you will take the midterm and the final at the testing center, 60 Carver, on the announced dates (Midterm: 5th week; Final: Exam week).

If you finish the units early, you may be eligible for early exams. However, early exams are not possible if you finish later than the 9th week.

If you are off-campus and cannot come to Ames, you will need to arrange a proctor.

Instructions for arranging a proctor.

A. Proctors must be employed as one of the following:

i. Principal, teacher or guidance counselor at a High School
ii. Professional employee of an accredited college or university (including ISU Extension staff)
iii. Employee of a learning center routinely used for administering exams.
iv. Professional librarian
v. Commissioned officer of the military
vi. Clergy

B. When making arrangements with a proctor, please note the following:

i. Proctor's employment may be verified.
ii. Proctor and student attest to a strictly professional relationship (friends, family members, neighbors, etc. are not permitted to proctor exams, regardless of their employment).
iii. Exams must be taken at the proctor's workplace.

C. Procedure for making arrangments. NOTE: This may take 2-3 days so do allow enough time! Expect to do this no later than the 4th week of the term.

Locate a person who is willing to do this. Speak with them directly about it - live, telephone or email. Don't assume messages are received until you have confirmation of that!

Send the proctor info to L. A. Willson: Name (first and last), employment position and location, telephone, email at place of employment. Also let us know at this time what date(s) and time(s) are possible for you to take the relevant exam - leaving at least two working days for us to make arrangements. Normally, off-campus exams are available the same days as the on-campus ones; to discuss the possibility of an exception, you need to contact the head-of-course, L. A. Willson. Again, don't assume we have your email until you have a response!

We will send a proctor form to the proctor to be signed and returned to us. Once we have that form, we will send the proctor the information he/she needs to let you access the exam.

At the time of the exam you will then go to the place of employment of the proctor and take the exam on WebCT.
