Is this the right astronomy course for you?

We offer two web courses, Astro 102 (about the sky and navigation) and Astro 103 (about orbits and space travel in the solar system). They can be taken independently, simultaneously, or in reverse order but if you don't already know some of the material, it will be easiest to start with Astro 102.

We offer two 100-level (no pre-requisite) lecture courses on Astronomy. Astro 120 covers some of the same material as 102+103 and adds to that quite a bit about what we know about other bodies in the solar system with some attention to astrobiology (or, are we alone in the universe?). Astro 150 covers our understanding of how stars form and develop, of how galaxies form and interact, and of the origins of the universe. If you know that you do better in a course with lectures and frequent contact, we recommend that you take Astro 120 (offered 3 times per year) or 150 (offered twice per year) rather than the web courses.

These web courses serve a different purpose, adding flexibility to our offering through more independent study.  However, this does assume that you can manage your load so as not to fall too far behind, and that you are comfortable with independent study.
